Your EQ — your emotional intelligence —  is the level of your ability to understand, empathize and negotiate with other people. For most people, EQ is more important than IQ in determining their success in work and life Most people have at least four of the emotional competencies that make up EQ in some degree. Some have five. The competencies are (1) self-awareness, (2) self-control, (3) motivation, (4) empathy and (5) social skills. All can be improved with training and practice. We discussed Self-awareness and self-control the last two weeks and we will discuss the other three in the next few weeks. How aware are you of your emotions and what skills do you have for managing them as they come into play? Do you set goals for yourself, and do you have the emotional skills such to reach them? Do you read the signals people send and recognize how they feel? Do you have the people skills to work in a team environment? Lewis’s Bottom Line: Raise your EQ with training and practice for more success in work and life. You can learn more here: http://psychcentral.com/lib/what-is-emotional-intelligence-eq/
