Lewis Denbaum knows from first-hand experience that top-notch communication skills are key to productivity, team building, employee satisfaction, and company growth. He has developed and honed a range of effective communication techniques during his diverse career spanning law and accounting, senior-level management, teaching, and relationship coaching that are applicable in any business environment. Lewis began his business career as an accountant at a New York City-based CPA firm upon graduating from the Professional School of Accountancy at CW Post College with highest honors. After graduating from the University of Iowa School of Business with a Masters Degree in Accounting and the University of Iowa College of Law (with highest honors), he moved on to practice law in Washington, DC, first with Baker & Hostetler and then with Miller & Chevalier, and before long, Lewis established his own law practice in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Upon relocating to Iowa, Lewis became CEO of an audio component company before landing at Chappell Studio /MarathonFoto (now Event Photography Group) where he served as CFO, General Counsel and HR Director. During Lewis’ tenure, the company grew to become the top events photography company. Under his leadership, he and his team positioned the company for purchase, which resulted in the company’s successful buyout. Lewis has been a life-long teacher. He has taught accounting and taxation at the University of Iowa School of Business, various tax law courses at the University of Baltimore Law School, communication and stress-reduction courses and workshops throughout the United States. Though Lewis successfully navigated the complex worlds of law and finance, two painful divorces motivated him to learn how to also succeed in love and marriage. Lewis then devoted his full energy towards strengthening that part of his life. His efforts paid off, and Lewis is now happily married to the love of his life, Diane Denbaum, a Life Coach certified through International Coach Academy. Taking what they learned from mistakes made in their previous marriages as well as relationship lessons learned since, Lewis and Diane co-authored a book, Madly in Love Forever: A Guide to True and Lasting Love. Inspired by this new direction in his life, Lewis went on to become a Certified Relationship Coach through the Relationship Coaching Institute. Lewis and Diane now share their knowledge of communication and relationships through workshops and one-on-one coaching. In 1994, Lewis discovered the field of Men’s Work, becoming deeply involved in men’s circles and the work of Justin Sterling, David Deida, and The Mankind Project. He currently presents workshops, hosts and organizes telesummits, and offers coaching specific to men and men’s issues, helping men to live their life’s mission while balancing it with their relationships. Lewis’s relationship work led to an important discovery: the concepts behind the communication techniques that work for dating and married couples – respect, receptivity and responsiveness - also have a powerful application in the business world. In addition, he realized much of Men’s Work is centered on team building, communication skills, and mission, all critical in business. Lewis integrates communication and team building skills techniques adapted from relationship and men's coaching and training, and his successful business career into communication skills coaching and training programs that uniquely powerful and effective. Lewis and his wife, Diane, live in Fairfield Iowa. Their blended family consists of five children, all young adults.
